Sinn Spezialuhren zu Frankfurt am Main

The manufacture of highly functional, technologically demanding wristwatches without competition: This is the characteristically unique concept of Sinn Spezialuhren GmbH & Co. KG in Frankfurt am Main. With only 12,000 watches sold worldwide per year, Sinn remains one of the best kept secrets in the watch world today.
Sinn watches was established in 1961, when pilot and flight instructor Helmut Sinn began to manufacture pilot’s watches under his own name in Frankfurt-Rödelheim. These were exceptionally instrument-like wristwatches of high functionality, fulfilling the professional demands of pilots perfectly. He made and sold the watches directly from the factory. The timepieces’ high functionality, top-grade indestructible quality, and extreme cost-effectiveness soon became much sought after by pilots everywhere.
Together with the renaissance of the mechanical wristwatch in recent years, interest in these special watches from Frankfurt has also increased. Sinn chronographs, sports and diver’s watches compared more favourably against other established watch brands in both performance and affordability. At the age of 78, the company’s founder and name-giver sold both the company and the brand rights to Dipl.-Ing. Lothar Schmidt in September 1994. A native of the German state of Saarland, Schmidt had been proxy holder, production manager, and one of the development directors of the noble Swiss brand IWC until that point. He provided his new company with knowledge as well as experience in development, production, and the introduction of new technologies. A myriad of technical innovations quickly followed. Sinn's propreitory technical advancements are developed with form and function in mind - never for gimmicks! They include the following, or click here for technical details on Sinn Technology:
i. Stainless steel diver’s watch that can reach any possible diving depth due to its case being filled with silicon oil;
ii. Valuable chronometer-chronograph encased in a newly developed 22-karat gold alloy making it as hard as stainless steel;
iii. Chronometer possessing magnetic field protection twenty times higher than the norm and a movement suspension system that is exceptionally shockproof;
iv. A watch containing ideal protection against movement corrosion due to the fact that it is filled with inert gases and outfitted with an integrated dehumidifying capsule;
v. A lubrication and tolerance technology allowing mechanical watches to still function properly at extreme temperatures between +80° C and -45° C; the development of timepieces for the professional use by the police and border patrols (EZM models);
vi. The DIAPAL® technology which dispenses the need for lubrication of the most important watch movement bearings
vii. Tegiment technology - ultra-hard coating superior to industry standards.
The purchase of a timepiece by Sinn will always be accompanied by a sense of tangible timekeeping joy for true connoisseurs of mechanical watches, as well as the security of knowing that one owns a high-quality product crafted in the art of German engineering. Moving forward we can expect Sinn to continue with their Mantra. New materials, new technology and new patents, always. Sin(n)fully good watches that make functional sense with an inimitable style!
